Do you remember the joy you felt when you were a child playing within nature or when you were allowed the freedom to express yourself creatively – painting, drawing, singing or dancing?

Sadly, today we lack an intimacy with the natural world.

Many of us spend too much time indoors connected to our digital devices, disconnected from the world we once understood, honored and celebrated.

Creativity is ancient and part of what makes us human

Nature Art brings harmony and balance back into our lives which ultimately makes us happier and healthier. If you would like to feel happier and healthier from the benefits of Nature Art, join us at Educating the Heart

This is a unique program for ADULTS wishing to bring harmony and balance back into their lives through playful, soulful nature based art activities.

For as little as $9.99 (2 cups of coffee) per month you can begin a new Creative Journey that will help you feel Happier and Healthier.

In our first Nature Art exercise, we explore “who am I” through playful, soulful nature based art activities we can do anywhere! When I play with nature – it’s a natural, organic exploration, something I have done since I was a small child and that need to play with nature has never left me. Play is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul. Growing up in the Scottish countryside, I explored, and gathered from the natural world. I touched, held, and responded to things, in an intimate and personal way. Gaining a sense connection with these items. Living in British Columbia for the last 13 years has provided new landscapes, cultures and creative explorations both in the city and countryside that I have interwoven into this unique nature art program for adults. Here are just a few of the wonderful nature art activities we will explore over the coming months…

WHO AM I?

COLOUR IN THE CITY – inspired by Spanish artist Miro we go in search for colours in the city.

HOT ROCKS and Textures in the City

NATURE INSPIRED ARCHITECTURE – a glimpse into the fascinating story of Scottish Architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh (and his very talented wife Margaret)

WHERE WE WALK- NATURE ART ABOVE AND BELOW – Finding inspiration from the unlikeliest sources around the city

INTERBENG – What does Thich Nhat Hahn’s beautiful passage mean to you? We explore our interconnectedness to nature and each other in and around the city – producing a material canvas wall hanging

PRAYER FLAGS – exploring gratitude and mindfulness

EXPLORING THE ELEMENTS

BIRD SONG IN THE CITY – Wire birds have a home in the city – Vancouver

ONE SINGLE TREE

STORYTELLING WITH NATURE

MOUNTAIN DAY AND CONCRETE JUNGLE – Landscapes and how they influence us

Today, around 55%of the world’s population is thought to be living in an urban area or city, with that figure set to rise to 68% over the coming decades, according to the UN.

I realized the importance and urgency of providing a program that offered adults creative experiences with nature in an urban setting.

I wished to create a program that everyone could participate in, at any age, anywhere in the world. This is NOT an art program nor an environmental course, it is a simple, yet powerful program that invites you to slow down and explore your own personal creativity (nurturing your creative intelligence) through nature art that helps nurture a deeper and meaningful relationship with the natural world and all life.
